Have you ever noticed this about acronyms?

If the phrase contains "the" or "and" or "of"the letter "t" or "a" or "o" is missed out.

eg. UEFA stands for Union of European Football Associations.

What I want to know is why is Computer Literacy and Information Technology abbreviated to CLAIT?|||The rule is that you only include the initials of these words if it makes a more easily pronounced abbreviation|||So it doesn't spell CLIT|||If it weren't it would be 'CLIT' and people would be offended.|||Man you need to wash that mind of yours out with soap.|||Same reason they changed Sam Houston Institute of Technology to Texas Tech.|||I got the joke ... but why didn't the people before me

John

Coalition for the Liberation of Itinerant Tree-Dwellers|||People are stupid.

What can you do.|||You are funnyy.. i think.|||ha ha ha|||in some abreviations they keep those small words because it makes the abreviation sound better, and in some where there are alot of little words the abreviation would probably just be harder to say than the name. in any case its all about having a good 'ring' to it!|||Because it would sound weird if someone said that they love CLIT. ha ha|||Rogers

Only

Young

Soldiers|||I noticed so that is why I joined SPEWA... The Society to Prevent Evil Word Acromnyms.

Cost but a tuppence to join.

--That Cheeky Lad|||lol|||These are similarly amusing: http://4acronyms.com/cs/blogs/acroblog/a鈥?/a>|||Some people just don't have a sense of humour do they?
